These stainless steel spikes are made of 100% high-grade #304 stainless steel that protects against rust, UV, and chemical degradation. These spikes are designed to interfere with the birds’ ability to land (without causing them any injury) and will deter birds from perching, roosting, and even nesting on various types of structures. Birds instinctively fly to “landing strips” such as roof ledges, windowsills, building projections, signs, statues, trusses, and beams. The standard spike range includes narrow, wide, and extra wide, ideal for small, medium, and large birds. They are also used in products with extra-long spikes to counteract the remarkable ability of these birds to “straddle” on ordinary spikes. Other unique designs include gutter spikes, which prevent perching on the lips of the gutter, and solar panel spikes, which prevent birds from perching on the top frame of the solar panel and can also be used to block access underneath the panel.
Installation is easy and can be done in a variety of ways. The recommended method of installation is with a UV stabilized silicone adhesive. Simply run a layer of silicon beads along the entire base and press down firmly on the ledge to be covered. To ensure good adhesion, make sure that any bird droppings, dust, or debris are wiped off the ledges prior to installation. Pre-drilled holes in the base also allow for fixing with nails or screws if desired.
